CONTENT MEETING “MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENT” IN TALLINN

CONTENT MEETING “MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENT” IN TALLINN

From 8 to 13 December 2023 we have held a content meeting within our project “Media and Information Literacy for climate change and environment”. During the four days, we have talked in details about outputs and content of the activities. The main focus was the research which will be implemented in three participating countries: Croatia, Estonia and Portugal in January and February 2024.

During the meeting, partners discussed methodology and questions asked, gave feedback to created questionnaire and had the time to develop it more further. Besides that, we have talked about the quality implementation of the desk research (analysis of policy documents) and what is the best approach to share examples of good practice. Following this important discussion, we have dived into the development of draft content for the toolkit for Youth Workers and Educators “Media and Information Literacy of Youth in Green Topics”. We discussed the topics which should be covered within the output of e-learning course for young people. The meting was also a good chance to also discuss the content of the local training courses for educators and trainers, but also to discuss the content of the local conferences, which will all happen at the same time and have hybrid component.

Besides sharing and planning the content of the activities, this meeting was a chance for partners to get to know each other better and discuss what is the best way to implement the activities in the quality way.

The project “Media and Information Literacy for Climate Change and Environmental Topics” gathered several experienced organisations from different fields in a Consortium, with the aim of raising capacities and providing practical tools for youth workers and youth, starting with research showing the real-time situation in three involved countries: Croatia, Estonia, and Portugal. The consortium of lead partners and associated partners is formed with different organisations coming from non-profit and profit organisations, youth centres, university and media centres.

WE HAVE SUPPORTED THE COMMUNICATION OF THE CONFERENCE “VALUE AND RECOGNITION OF YOUTH WORK”

WE HAVE SUPPORTED THE COMMUNICATION OF THE CONFERENCE “VALUE AND RECOGNITION OF YOUTH WORK”

We helped to shape the communication and visibility for the Conference “Value and Recognition of Youth Work”, which happened in Zagreb from 4 to 7 December 2023.

DOMAS was selected, among all applications, to digitally support the Conference “Value and Recognition of Youth Work”, which happened in Zagreb, Croatia, from 4 to 7 December 2023. We were responsible for communication on social media (Instagram and Facebook), but also in creating the articles before and after the Conference, which tackle the topic of recognition in youth work.

The Conference was organised by Jugend fur Europa (German National Agency) and Agencija za mobilnost i programe EU (Croatian National Agency), with the aim of creating more recognition in the youth work sector. It also needs to be mentioned that this conference was a part of a larger process of recognition of youth work which we call the Boon Process. More about the Bonn Process and European Youth Work Agenda can be found here: https://www.bonn-process.net/.

The Conference gathered around 90 participants and during the two days discussed the recognition aspect in youth work on all four levels: self-recognition, social recognition, political recognition and formal recognition. Participants have also created messages around recognition that will be shared on social media.

Interested in the topic of recognition even more? Follow “Value and Recognition of Youth Work” Conference on social media channels at the following links: Facebook and Instagram. Let’s connect and discuss the recognition of youth work online!

CAN WE DO IT? YES, WE CAN! – REPORT FROM THE TRAINING COURSE ON USING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN YOUTH WORK

CAN WE DO IT? YES, WE CAN! – REPORT FROM THE TRAINING COURSE ON USING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN YOUTH WORK

From 5 – 8 July 2022, we have had the opportunity to facilitate and lead the training course “DO IT in Youth Work” for 22 youth workers, which was organised by Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes in Croatia.

DO IT in Youth Work training course was organised by Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes (National Agency for Erasmus+ Programme), within the Training and Cooperation Activities.

Digital youth work today is important more than ever – we use digital media and new technology to enhance youth development. Digital youth work, as stated in different documents, is used to describe work that can happen in face-to-face situations, social and group settings as well as in online environments – or in a mixture of these. It is relevant to all youth work pedagogies and can enhance all types of practice. New generation of youth, born into the 21st century, grew up with technology all around them. While youth workers learned how to use digital tools in the Corona pandemic, there is a still relevant gap missing. Therefore, the main goal of the training course was to educate youth workers in methods and tools necessary for development of digital competencies of young people.

During this training course, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the digital youth work, digital safety, STEM education and how to use different tools, such as LEGO and 3D printing in their work. The training course was intended for youth workers who are on the beginning of their professional path and want to gain new knowledge in the field of digital youth work.

And what’s more important – participants were quite diverse – 22 of them came from 13 different countries: Croatia, Poland, Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and Germany.

The training was led by our Domagoj Moric, who has extensive knowledge in the field of youth and is quite versatile in the topic of digital tools and digital youth work. It has to be mentioned that the idea for the training course came from Maja Katinić Vidović, a professional trainer and IT expert (Wizard & DOMAS Pool of Experts). Also, a significant part of the training was co-led with Ivan Decker from Gradionica. The training course was a success and participants were happy with the acquired knowledge and skills, as well as the important contacts they have created.

We would like to thank all participants, but also Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes for providing trust in us to deliver this training course!

HANDBOOK “ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET DEVELOPMENT WITHIN ADULT EDUCATION” IS NOW AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD!

HANDBOOK “ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET DEVELOPMENT WITHIN ADULT EDUCATION” IS NOW AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD!

This handbook is the first intellectual outcome developed within the project “Creativity and innovation in adult education for development of entrepreneurial mind-set of citizens with fewer opportunities”, where DOMAS is one of the partners!

The handbook “Entrepreneurial Mind-set development within adult education” is the first intellectual outcome developed within the project “Creativity and innovation in adult education for development of entrepreneurial mind-set of citizens with fewer opportunities” financed by Erasmus+ Programme. It is an innovative publication with relevant topics useful for development of entrepreneurial mind-set of the project’s main target group – unemployed citizens with fewer opportunities background. The handbook brings all up-to-date findings and descriptions of different core domains, characteristics, behaviours and skills (intrapersonal, interpersonal and creativity) that together form an entrepreneurial mind-set and drive action. The handbook also serves as theoretical and conceptual resource for adult educators when organising further education, training and mentoring of citizens in changing their mind-sets and inspiring them to recognize an otherwise overlooked opportunity, develop the confidence to take a risk, communicate their ideas clearly, and to be able to adjust to and learn from setbacks; in line with the latest developments in new era entrepreneurship.

The innovative character of the proposed Handbook “Entrepreneurial Mind-set development within adult education” is that it is a unique all-in-one guide that was developed in cooperation with highly profiled experts in the field of entrepreneurship (from our associated partners in the project, adult education centres/institutions, the entrepreneurial companies, organisations and hubs) together with the expert entrepreneurship educators and adult educators and psychologists (all experienced in NFE and adult education for entrepreneurship) from our organisations. Thus, the Handbook covers all important and necessary topics and will approach them from different angles, thanks to the involvement of experts from different professional, adult education and entrepreneurship backgrounds. As this kind of an all-encompassing publication on Entrepreneurial mind-set doesn’t exist yet, our project and O1 Handbook has the important innovative aspect needed.

The Handbook consists of several main sections and chapters. It opens up with the chapter about the non-formal education and adult education as a way of rising competences of citizens / adult learners. It is followed by the chapter about entrepreneurial learning as a way to enrich adult education and it includes theoretical framework of entrepreneurial learning, its models and why it is important for adult education. The next section is about the new era entrepreneurship and the consequences it has on educators who work with adult learners. The next chapter gives insights into entrepreneurial intelligence and its main characteristics as well as successful case studies. How to develop an entrepreneurial mind-set in adult education is in focus of the next chapter which gives more insights into what we mean by entrepreneurial mind-set development, methodology for its teaching / training, as well as successful case studies. The chapter on intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, learning and intelligence follows next, after which chapters about entrepreneurial mind-set development programmes with focus on both intrapersonal and interpersonal skill separately. Finally, the last chapter of the Handbook talks about the importance of creativity and innovation competences within the entrepreneurship mind-set development supported by methodology for teaching / training creativity and innovation competences of entrepreneurship mind-set.

DOMAS REPRESENTATIVE PART OF THE CROATIAN DELEGATION FOR THE YOUTH WORK RECOVERY CONFERENCE IN FINLAND!

DOMAS REPRESENTATIVE PART OF THE CROATIAN DELEGATION FOR THE YOUTH WORK RECOVERY CONFERENCE IN FINLAND!

From 13 to 16 June 2022, DOMAS was part of Croatian delegation for the Youth Work Recovery Conference! Besides active participation, we have co-facilitated one part of the event, which was dealing with recommendations to recover youth work!

The Youth Work Recovery Conference happened from June 13 to 16, 2022 in Helsinki, Finland and brought policy, practice and research together to discuss the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and crisis on the field of youth work (and its respective actors) across Europe. The conference explored the evidence on the need for support of youth work in Europe, on the one hand, and the available support options for youth work in Europe, on the other hand. Therefore, gaps in existing support measures as well as specific and concrete mechanisms needed (in addition to existing ones) were identified. Another objective was to discuss the role of the European youth programmes in strengthening post-pandemic support of youth work.

Participants worked on developing clear actions for relevant actors on how the post-pandemic support and development of youth work can be improved, strengthened and widened across Europe and beyond. A drafting group supported the process by summarizing and contextualizing the work done by the participants.

The Croatian delegation was consisted of the following persons: Marina Maričić (Central State Office of Demography and Youth), Marijana Pavlić (Ministry of Health), Domagoj Morić (DOMAS) and Sanja Posavec and Valerie Posavec (Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes).

Besides active participation in the conference, our Domagoj was co-facilitator of the whole event and had a workshop with a group of participants on developing recommendations for the future action plan.

In the following period, the final ‘Beyond Recovery Action Plan 2030’ will be developed and will refer to a wider perspective (going ‘beyond recovery’) – thus, having the pandemic and its effects as a starting point for a wider discussion on systemic issues and different emerging crises. Stay tuned to find out more soon! And you can see some of the thematic areas on the graphic recording above!

The Youth Work Recovery Conference was co-hosted by the National Agencies of the European youth programmes from Finland (host), Croatia, Germany, France, Portugal and Slovenia (co-hosts) as well as co-financed by Movetia (Swiss agency for exchange and mobility).
